Poker is played in many forms all of which have their own subilities.

Poker involved betting usually with the cards being dealt with betting rounds that follow. A dealer in a casino a house dealer handles the cards for each hand, but a button (donated by a plastic coin) is rotated clockwise among the players to indicate a nominal dealer to determine the order of betting.

Forced bets are done at the beginning of the hands to create an initial stake for which the players will contest. Some games have designated betting patterns called limit tables. In betting you have three options and those are to either to check, fold or raise. Each betting round requires that all players much match the bets of the other parties or not have a chance to carry on the hand. If a player makes a bet and none of the other players calls this bet then the hand is folded and the player raising takes the pot. This is where players bring in the art of bluffing their opponents and the main focus of this website.

At the end of the last betting rounds, if more than one player remains, there is a showdown where the cards are revealed and the hands are evaluated. The player with the best hand according to the poker variant being played wins the pot.

The main popular poker variants are as follows:

Draw poker
Players each receive five as in five-card draw or more cards, all of which are hidden. They can then replace one or more of these cards a certain number of times.

Stud poker
Players receive cards one at a time, some being displayed to other players at the table. The key difference between stud and 'draw' poker is that players are not allowed to discard or replace any cards.

Community Card Poker
Players combine individually dealt cards with a number of shared "community cards" that are dealt face up and shared by all players. Two or four individual cards may be dealt in the most popular variations, Texas hold 'em and Omaha hold 'em respectively.
