Online poker Bluffing Help
Online bluffing is pretty much the same as normal bluffing that you would do in a regular poker game. The main difference is the interface which allows for less interaction with your opponents. Betting speed is very important when making bluffs plus the size of your bluffs is even more important.
Try to make even bets as this shows you have taken time to think about your size of your bets. Quick bets often show your opponents that you may not have looked at the board and are betting on your hand only.
It is also very important to look at your opponents chip stake when bluffing. Your opponents often will make calls or folds on the amount of chips they have left on the table. Small chip stacks are often more likely to make calls on bluffs as they feel that they have premium hands and don't want to risk being bluffed.
This often makes playing with short stakes more difficult when bluffing as they are less likely to fold premium hands. Short stakes do make good targets though when you have a premium hand as they are likely to call your bets so try to make them have to go all in for your premium hands.
Online bluffing is also different for ring games and online tournaments. Online tournaments often require a different style to ring games as ring games are more likely to see calls where as online tournaments players prefer to be more aggressive with big hands. This means that your tactics around bluffing need to change too. Often bluffing takes a much larger form of the game in later stages of the tournaments where you need to win the blinds as players are more relucant to play hands and are looking to get all in with premium sets. This opens up opportunities for blind stealing and winning more pots with small cheeky bets.
Short handed and full size tables also have variations in that you need to be far more aware of your opponents chip stakes and playing styles.
Online bluffing and offline bluffing primarliy work on the same principles though. Good articles to look at around basics of bluffing and bluffing tactics should give you some good ideas on what to look out for when making bluffs.
Remember the secret to bluffing is understanding your opponents and with this knowledge you can make a lot of money. Good luck with bluffing at the poker tables!
